I agree with y...Hey Jeff,<br /><br />A very thoughtful post!<br /><br />I agree with you about Torch Song Trilogy and La Cage Aux Folles. I've seen the movies of both of them and above all, they're compelling stories with memorable characters. <br /><br />You know, 10 or 15 years ago I barely knew anyone who was openly gay. But times have changed. Now, I have friends, coworkers, neighbors who are openly gay and lesbian. When we talk about our lives - our hopes and fears - there's no difference. <br /><br />And that's the way stories of gay and lesbian people deserve to be told onstage, not as an example of some "other" but as fellow human beings, with respect and compassion, with the same struggles and dreams we all have. <br /><br />I think these plays are an example of that and I think it's a positive direction. I'm especially looking forward to "The Kid." It's my favorite Dan Savage book and it's such sweet story.
