Star To Be: Ben Jackson Walker

Considering his role as Romeo in & Juliet, you'd think Ben Jackson Walker would not have time to make much of an impression. I mean, the show re-tells the Bard's most famous story from Juliet's point of view, and SPOILER ALERT: Romeo's still dead! Okay, not exactly. But to find out more, you'll have to go see what's happening every night over at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The great news is that young Mr. Walker made a HUGE impression on us, and that's why he's this month's Star To Be!

While the show marks his Broadway debut, he's been busy since he graduated from the University of Michigan's Musical Theater program, including several workshops, and regional theater appearances with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and Connecticut Rep. 

   

   

Have you caught him in such TV shows as Evil or Orange Is the New Black? Or maybe, like us, you've seen his hilarious turn on Paramount +'s new film Honor Society? (above) It's a lot of fun!

When we caught him in & Juliet, we were instantly smitten. Not only does he have matinee idol looks, but he oozes charisma and a confidence usually reserved for actors with several Broadway shows under their belt. And that voice! When he got done belting his lungs out with "It's My Life," we sat there thinking, "Bon Jovi who?"

One of the biggest thrills of being a long-term theater fan is being able to remember when a huge star got their big shot at the Big Time. We have no doubt that a long, successful career is ahead for Ben Jackson Walker!
