Best of 2018: JKTS Awards: Broadway Media

THE 2018 JKTS AWARDS
Media Categories
(10 Awards)

After taking a couple of seasons off, we are super excited to re-start our annual tradition! Up first, our awards for the media and technical aspects of the Broadway theater experience. Occasionally, the shows we saw that weren't on Broadway are included, too. They were: Chess (Kennedy Center), Passion (Virginia's Signature Theatre), Moulin Rouge! (pre-Broadway engagement), and Sweeney Todd (off-Broadway). And the winner is...

Best Show Logo - Play: The Boys in the Band

It's retro and modern, just like the play. The words show the history. And a stunning portrait of an all gay cast really brings it home.

Best Show Logo - Musical: TIE: Carousel and My Fair Lady

The perfect color combination, the texturing of the image and the artwork combine to make the Carousel logo one for the ages.

We are always up for a James MacMullan Lincoln Center logo, and he really outdid himself with this colorful and enchanting Covent Garden scene advertising My Fair Lady.

Best Show Logo - Re-do: Head Over Heels

From this...

...to this!

I liked them both, but the newer version told a lot more about the show.  They should have worked.

Best Show Logo - Special: TIE: The Phantom of the Opera (30th Anniversary) and Wicked (15th Anniversary)

Both shows hit huge milestones, and their special edition logos prove that both classics are still on top of their game.

Best Window Card: Carousel

It may just be my favorite poster in my entire collection. Classy and classic.

Best Playbill Cover: Escape to Margaritaville

The show was a flop, but the logo was beautiful, and it even went well with Playbill yellow!

Best Marquee: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II

Just look at it. It takes marquees to a whole new level. Not unlike the play it advertises.

Best Show Merchandise - Complete Campaign: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II

There is so much to choose from, they have a gift shop with daily hours for the public. All of it goes so nicely with everything else in the Potterverse.

Best Show Merchandise - Show Specific: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II

The #KeepTheSecrets buttons are even FREE!

Best Cast Recording: Head Over Heels

Perfect for fans of the show and fans of The Go-Go's. My 80's teen-aged self loves this so much.
