Broadway Box Office: Week 29: 12.10 - 12.16.12

Over the next two and a half weeks, if you are looking for a unique, interesting and heartfelt new musical to go see, I can't recommend Chaplin: The Musical enough. Rob McClure's performance is jaw-dropping and certain to become legend - he's already won several awards for his portrayal.  And the show also features three fantastic divas - Jenn Colella, Christiane Noll and Erin Mackey, not to mention a child star-to-be that will amaze you - Zachary Unger.  And, of course, there's also my friend Wayne Alan Wilcox!  My review is HERE.  Click the "JKTS Chat" tab at the top to read my interviews with Wayne, and the "Broadway Boys" and "Broadway Ladies" tabs to check out more on Rob McClure and Christiane Noll.  The show closes January 6 at the Barrymore Theatre.  Seriously, you don't want to miss it.

And... congratulations to Disney's Newsies for recouping its entire $5M investment!  Seize the day, boys!

BROADWAY BOX OFFICE
Week #29; 31 Productions
December 10 - 16, 2012

Another rough week - post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas - on Broadway.  Most shows were down - the biggest losers were Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and Grace, while (finally!) the biggest winner was Bring It On: The Musical - up 10 spots on the chart!  This week, we said good-bye to Patti and Debra, and hello to Laurie, Maggie and Sebastian.  As you might guess, the holiday shows are also holding their own, boosted by 9 performance weeks each.  If history is any indication, next week's box office report should be way down.  But Christmas week should be record-setting!

Previews This Week:
  • Picnic - 5 previews
  • The Other Place - 8 previews
Closed This Week:
  • The Anarchist - 23 previews, 17 performances
Special Performance Schedule This Week:
