Mr. October 2013
Mr. October 2013
Brian J. Smith
WHY HE'S MR. BROADWAY: It's not too unexpected that the general population knows him from TV's Stargate:Universe and The Gilmore Girls. But it is kind of funny that theatre fans probably know him best not from a play, but from a film The War Boys, co-starring a Broadway Boy from exactly 3 years ago - Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson's Benjamin Walker. (I highly recommend that film...) Now, with his critically-acclaimed turn in the hit revival of The Glass Menagerie, that might have finally changed. Not that this is his first main stem bow - he was also in Come Back, Little Sheba and The Columnist, both at MTC. And he's no stranger to the stage at all. This Julliard graduate has an impressive resume of off-Broadway and regional hits, too. Still, considering that he makes a huge impact while sharing the stage with Cherry Jones, Zachary Quinto and Celia Keenan-Bolger, it seems only fitting that this Gentleman Caller has finally earned the title of Mr. Broadway October 2013.
FUN FACTS:
- He just had a birthday - he was born on October 12!
- He's the older brother of two siblings - 14 years older than his youngest brother.
- He meditates every day for 30 minutes.
- He's done guest stints on 4 NY TV series: Law and Order, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, and Ble Bloods.
- After high school, he was part of the acclaimed theatre department at Collin County Community College, spent a year at Stephens College and was a BFA graduate of Julliard in 2007.
