Broadway Crossword Puzzle by Blog

I mentioned in my resolutions the other day that I wanted to expand the content of the blog, and specifically a puzzle. But not one where I give you the whole thing at once! Like in the old days where friends across the country would set up chess boards and mail each other moves, I'm going to help you set up a crossword grid and give you clues a few at a time. I hope you have as much fun doing this as I did making it!

Here we go.

1. All normal crossword rules apply, like no spaces between words, etc.
2. The puzzle is not going to end up symmetrical in pattern. It is assymetrical like picture above, though it won't turn out like that, either.
3. Some clues will refer to later or earlier clues, so you might have some blanks for awhile!
4. If I include pictures, they are related to the clues for that day.
5. I will review just the clues at the end of each blog.

To start:

Make yourself a crossword grid that is 38 X38 squares. (If you can draw tables on Microsoft Word, I think that is easiest.)

And now, THE PUZZLE!

1. The first 12 blocks of row 1 are black.
2. 1 Down starts at row 1, block 13. 5 Letters: Tony-winning Gregory.
3. The next two blocks in row 1 are black.
4. 2 Down starts at row 1, block 16. 13 Letters: She stars in Memphis.
5. The next two blocks in row 1 are black.
6. 3 Across starts at row 1, block 19. 9 Letters: One night only.
7. 3 Down starts at row 1, block 19. 10 Letters: The Best Little Whorehouse _____. (2 words)
8. The next block (28) of row 1 is black.
9. 4 Down starts at row 1, block 29. 5 Letters: Opens Guys and Dolls.
10. The rest of row 1 is black. The first twelve blocks of row 2 are black.
11. The only new word that starts in row 2 is at row 2, block 31. All of the rest of the blocks in row 2 are either black or parts of previous clues.
12. 5 Down starts at row 2, block 31. 4 Letters: The last word in Velma's opener.
